Android fragmentation continues to erode the attitude of developers to support the world's most popular mobile platform. IDC conducted a survey of 2173 developers' priorities and preferences. Initial survey was narrowed to 484 developers with the statement: "We have seen a steady erosion of developer interest in Android". The statement was made by Mike King as a strategist Appcelerator phone.
Shown in the graph, this is the first time fragmentation makes developers to reconsider their intention to make an application in Android. Previously, the programmer is willing to make the same application on the Android or incredibly good for IOS. 78% of developers interested in developing applications on Android phones, and only 67% are keen to make an application in Android tablet. Fragmentation persists even to the tablet Ice Cream Sandwich.
"The fact that interest developers to create applications in Windows Phone stronger, and in fact they see some pretty interesting Windows software. And it will cause problems for Android in the long run if they do not do something to reduce the fragmentation that. Rest, they were interested enough to make application for the RIM platform, webOS and Symbian.
